Product Description

Fire protection with sprinkler systems. Sprinklers are simple devices that are individually operated by the heat from a fire. When a fire starts a plume of hot gases rise to the ceiling if a sprinkler is present, a glass bulb or solder link gets hot and at a specific temperature (typically 68C) breaks, releasing a cap and allowing water to flow carefully controlled droplets which penetrate the fire plume and cool the burning material to below its ignition point, thus controlling the fire. Only the sprinkler(s) directly over the fire are operated.

The sprinklers are connected to pipe work, usually filled with water, which is supplied either from the water mains or from a storage tank via a pump. When a sprinkler operates, the flow of water in the pipe work operates a flow switch which in turn operates an alarm system. The flow of water is small, usually less than 1/100th of the water used by the Fire and Rescue Service.

Sprinklers do not go off accidentally and are only triggered by real fires. They are also very reliable and only 1 sprinkler in 16,000,000 exhibits any form of manufacturing defect. Sprinklers save lives, buildings, stock, assets and jobs. They also help prevent carbon gases by reducing fires.

Why NIOES (NIFPS)

The NIOES (NIFPS) Transformer, found in power plants and substations, is known to be one of the most expensive pieces of equipment. It contains a significant amount of combustible substances, which can pose a fire hazard and lead to power failures and substantial economic losses. Therefore, safeguarding these transformers is of utmost importance.

Conventional systems such as the “High Velocity Water Spray System / CO2 Gas Flooding System” offer external protection by activating when a fire starts around the transformer or when the transformer has already experienced an explosion. In contrast, the “Nitrogen Injection Explosion Prevention & Fire Protection System” provides internal protection by preventing the transformer from exploding in the first place. Transformers are prone to explosions due to factors like overheating, overloading, winding short-circuits, or earth faults. The nitrogen injection system addresses these issues.

It’s important to note that the nitrogen injection system does not protect the transformer from external fires. Instead, it focuses on preventing explosions by injecting nitrogen inside the transformer body. As a result, the “Nitrogen Injection Explosion Prevention System” is not intended as a substitute for the HVWS/CO2 Flooding System. Instead, its installation is recommended as an additional measure alongside the HVWS/CO2 Flooding System to enhance overall transformer protection.

Characteristics of  NIOES

State-of-art concept : Rapidly drain oil to prevent explosion and inject nitrogen to prevent and extinct fire.

Excellent performance : Utilizing fast valves to drain oil within seconds with the most advanced technique.

Fast response : Once a fault signal is detected from the Transformer. The oil is drained within second after detection in order to release pressure and to avoid explosion. The nitrogen gas is injected after 1 to 20 second in order to mix and cool down the oil, to reduce the concentration of flammable gases, to isolate oxygen gas, and to extinct fire.

Reliability : Utilizing the principle of logic signal to prevent any improper or unnecessary activity to the system and to provide a more flexible system.

High efficiency : Able to inject nitrogen gas continuously for more than 30 minutes to completely cool down the transformer oil as well as prevent and extinguish fire.

Reduce pollution : No Environmental pollution due to the characteristic of nitrogen gas. Extinct fire without water is an advantage to the lack of water area.

Feasibility : Easy to install and maintain for both new or existing transformers with reasonable investment in a minor price compare to other traditional transformer fire extinction systems, such as water spraying systems and CO2 spraying systems.

Functions : Explosion Prevention and Fire Extinguishing system can extinguish the fire immediately with the Nitrogen Gas injected into the Transformer Tank.

The Nitrogen can be injected continuously for 30 Minutes to stir and cool down the transformer oil, which also isolated the air from the tank.

Benefits of NIOES

When activated, the system swiftly extinguishes fires within seconds, ensuring rapid fire suppression. Moreover, it effectively prevents transformer explosions from occurring. Nitrogen gas, being inert, does not react with transformer oil, guaranteeing the integrity of the system. Additionally, it is completely non-toxic and non-hazardous, ensuring safety in its operation.

This system provides exceptional cooling capabilities to the transformer oil, aiding in maintaining optimal operating temperatures. It forms an insulating layer of a nitrogen (N2) blanket on the top surface of the oil, further enhancing its protective properties.

One of the advantages of this system is its lower installation and maintenance costs, making it a cost-effective solution. It is also environmentally friendly, aligning with sustainable practices. Furthermore, it is particularly suitable for areas facing water scarcity, making it an ideal choice in such locations.

For external fire protection, the option of the CNF Spray System is available, providing an additional layer of safety and protection, although its use is optional.

Scope of Application

Generator Power is unceasingly increasing with the development of technology, there are many transformer explosion happened due to ineffective of current breaker between the Generator and Power Transformer.

Our System’s USP

Auto Dialer Facility – a pre-recorded message will be sent to already registered phone numbers in the system in case of any system activation. (Max 3 numbers)

A mechanical interlocking has been provided to ensure that nitrogen injection will not take place into the transformer until the oil drain valve is open.

Nitrogen injection & evacuation system can be used to protect the transformers from fire & explosions
HOW A TRANSFORMER EXPLODE & GET FIRE

An Arc is generated due to any internal fault in the Transformer.

And a high energy flows through transformer.

Which lead to decomposition of insulation/oil at high temperature.

Top oil surface attains temperature higher than ignition point.

Huge thermal energy is generated thereby emitting combustible gases.

Pressure built-up resulting in tank rupture normally at top cover.

Hot oil when comes in contact with the oxygen catches fire.

why to use nitrogen injection system

On activation, the system extinguish the Fire within seconds.

It prevent the Transformer from explosion.

Nitrogen Gas is inert and does not react with transformer oil.

It is completely Non-hazardous

It provides best cooling effect to the oil inside the Transformer.

Forms insulating layer (Thermal) on top surface of the oil.

Easily available and in-expensive.
